Annemiek Vermeijden

Annemiek is a senior associate in the Corporate Law practice group of Ekelmans & Meijer Advocaten. She works on corporate law at the national and international levels and is specialized in providing assistance in complex national and international disputes. Annemiek also has wide-ranging experience in insolvency law and insurance and liability law, more specifically professional liability and the liability of directors.
Annemiek has a no-nonsense approach but she also devotes herself wholeheartedly to complex proceedings and requests for advice, investigating them down to the last detail and presenting her case in court with flair if necessary. Annemiek likes to share her knowledge with others by giving lectures and courses, for example at the SRA (the knowledge centre for accountants who do not work for the ‘big four’), and for corporate finance advisors and trust offices.

Education
Annemiek studied Dutch law at Erasmus University in Rotterdam, majoring in Private Law and Corporate Law. While at university, she worked as a teaching assistant to Prof. J.M. van Dunne. She has been a lawyer since 2001. In 2008 she successfully completed the course on Corporate Law organized by the Juridische Academie.

Work Experience
Before joining Ekelmans & Meijer, Annemiek spent 12 years working for a firm of lawyers and tax experts with an international focus in Rotterdam and Amsterdam. She spent the first five years there working in the fields of insurance law and liability law, after which she focused on corporate law. Annemiek’s client base is rather diverse, ranging from international groups and high-net-worth private individuals to the upper regions of the SME segment. Examples of her current activities include a liability claim for €50 million against a major Dutch firm of lawyers and a claim worth millions against a bank.

Annemiek has also been secretary and deputy chair of the Young Bar in Rotterdam and Dordrecht.
